Hemsec SIPS sister company Hemsec Installations have been awarded a contract for the design, supply and erection of Hemsec SIPS on a social housing project in West Bromwich in the Midlands.
The first phase of the project commences on site early in January 2008 with the construction of 6 semi-detached houses and a block of 8 apartments containing some 5000m2 of product which will be constructed in 6 weeks.
The remainder of the site which involves 150 units in total will be constructed over the following 18 months.
The houses are to be built to sustainability code level 3 with 150mm thick Hemsec SIPS being used for the external envelope of each unit giving a u-value of 0.18w/m2k.
Gary Cartwright, Construction Director for Hemsec Installations, commented “this is a landmark project for the Hemsec Group and should now allow us to push on in our plans to have an increased involvement in this market sector over the next 2 years”. He further added that “this sector seems to be particularly drawn to the speed of build benefits the Hemsec SIPS product has to offer”.
